Proponents of the dietary supplement Ginseng claims the "all curing" supplement will enhance exercise endurance, boost mood and energy, and act as an aphrodisiac. A recent study published in The Journal of the American Dietetic Association shows otherwise. Researchers from Oregon State University and Wayne State University randomly assigned 83 adults to receive one of three treatments: placebo, 200 milligrams of ginseng (the clinical recommended level), or 400 milligrams. Researchers measured the subjects' moods both before and after the eight-week study.

The results showed no psychological benefits in any of the groups. They also state that altering the dose of ginseng may produce different results and that abuse of ginseng may have adverse side effects
