  • Dramatic Benefits of Friendly Flora in Type 2 Diabetic Patients

Considerable science now links the balance of power within the digestive tract to metabolic health, including blood sugar, cholesterol, and weight issues. The latest study is a randomized double-blind placebo-controlled clinical trial with 54 type 2 diabetic patients aged 35-70 years using a multi-strain friendly flora supplement over an 8-week period. The results showed that friendly flora was extremely useful in helping to manage blood sugar while dramatically lowering inflammation and boosting antioxidant status.
During the study period the control group experienced a rise in fasting blood sugar of 28 points, which did not happen in the friendly flora group. The control group experienced a significant worsening of insulin resistance compared to the friendly flora group.
Of particular importance is that the inflammatory marker CRP (C-reactive protein) went down in the friendly flora group while going up in the control group. The friendly flora group had a significant improvement in antioxidant status as measured by plasma glutathione levels, which worsened in the control group.
Type 2 diabetes is a difficult metabolic problem reflecting numerous metabolic systems in the body that are not working properly. Whenever we can see a dietary supplement benefiting this problem it opens the door to help a person recover their health. The fact that friendly flora could help arrest deteriorating blood sugar metabolism certainly helps a person to stabilize while making other improvements. The stunning finding of dramatic reduction in inflammation and improvement in antioxidant status indicates extreme health benefit in this problematic situation.
And the fact that these metabolic improvements are all coming about by changing the balance of power within the gut is food for thought.
