  • Green Tea and Coffee Reduce the Risk of Stroke

A study that followed 82,369 people for 13 years found that those who consumed four or more cups of green tea per day or one or more cups of coffee per day had a 20 percent reduced risk for stroke. In general, as coffee or green tea consumption rises, the risk for cardiovascular disease goes down.
It is well known that both coffee and green tea contain potent antioxidants that help protect your cardiovascular system. Coffee, in particular, helps move your bowels to eliminate potentially toxic waste products more efficiently. Both coffee and green tea contain caffeine, which can help boost nervous system tone as long as the dose is not overdone, which will vary considerably from person to person.
