  • Melatonin and Cardiovascular Disease

Fish oil, vitamin E, and coenzyme Q10 are the most commonly talked about supplements for reducing the risk of heart disease. Now a new supplement that is commonly used for sleep disorders can be added to that list: melatonin. In a new study, researchers found that melatonin performs anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and antihypertensive functions, all of which are crucial for reducing the risk of heart disease. More importantly, melatonin has potent anti-inflammatory effects, which reduce inflammation, a major cause of heart disease.
