  • Resveratrol and Calcium Fructoborate Help Angina

Angina is chest pain caused by the heart not getting enough blood. A randomized, double-blind, active-controlled, parallel clinical trial was conducted with angina patients to test the benefits of resveratrol, calcium fructoborate, or the combination.
Patients in the calcium fructoborate group and the resveratrol/ calcium fructoborate group had their inflammatory C-reactive protein (CRP) reduced by more than 30 percent after 60 days. CRP is often elevated in those with cardiovascular health problems.
Researchers also measured brain natriuretic peptide (BNP). BNP is made by your heart and shows how well your heart is working. Normally, only a low amount of BNP is found in your blood. Patients with angina have higher levels of BNP because their hearts are working harder than normal. BNP was lowered by 59.7 percent in the resveratrol group, 52.6 percent in the calcium fructoborate group, and 65.5 percent in the combination group.
Resveratrol is well-known for its cardiovascular helping properties. Calcium fructoborate is an anti-inflammatory nutrient best known for its role in bone and joint support. This human study shows that its anti-inflammatory properties also apply to cardiovascular health. The combination of the two nutrients, resveratrol and calcium fructoborate, had the highest score for patient reported improvement in quality of life.
