A study of 1,747 adults aged 65 and over who were followed for 8 to 9 years has found that those with the highest B vitamin status had a 26 percent reduction in all-cause mortality.
Vitamins B1, niacin, B6, and folic acid were of particular significance in the findings.
The simple fact is that B vitamins do so many things for you that you simply don’t want to run short of them. B vitamins are generally lacking in the diet, especially if you are eating processed grains. They are used up by stress and lost in sweat during exercise.
Since B vitamins are water soluble, you need a consistent intake that helps you have enough energy to offset the demands in your life. This will vary from person to person and will change based on how much stress a person is under at any given time. When you have enough B vitamins for you, your energy and mood will be better. And according to this study, that should help you live longer.
