Tweeti go to the doctors when i need to. i am starting to get towards the age, (know where near o2 or fuzo's advanced age's but....), that i should start getting things tested....i'm just not one to do that shyt
TweetI know it may vary from company to company but what all testing can you get covered by insurance? I'm talking blood work, heart, etc....just as like preventive type stuff.
I have always been worried about doing this because I have never really trusted doctors. I have always felt that doing something like this would open the door for them to start me down a road I didn't really need to go down. What's your opinions?

I LOVE BOOBOOKITTY...
TweetMe either. I VERY RARELY go to the dr. If I go, it's to get a shot for a sinus infection I can't shake. I've just never thought much of them

Tweetif you are going to good doctor everything will be all good. Look up the doctors that you are going to and see their credentials. If you can, go to a doc that is affiliated with a teaching hospital (they are usually located next to large universities). Growing up in Gainesville I always went to Shands hospital affiliated with UF, and I trust those guys more than say just your run of the mill small private practice doc cause they have seen 100's of more cases including all the crazy stuff and they tend to not over react about things. Just my 2c. Ultimately, you are responsible for your own health, get the work done and keep track of it yourself.
TweetI agree with Strella, everyone should get a regular check-up, ESPECIALLY if using any type of AAS or anything for enhancement. I am almost 30 and just got some blood work done for the first time, mainly for using AAS but also because i feel i should start I know and feel that I am not getting any younger. any good insurance company should cover most all types of blood tests you should only have to pay co-pay.

I'm not trying to be better than anyone, I am just trying to be better than who I was yesterday.
TweetI have a regular rapport with my PCP- my blood work done every 3 months. It depends on your insurance what is covered. Mine covers all , my only co pay is when I see my PCP
TweetI will check into the insurance. I may start getting this done. Is this something that should be done once per year? I don't use AAS

TweetDefinately part of a physical exam. However if you have other physical symptoms of various nature you acn always suggest one. If you dont use AAS I would be too concerned over it- those that do play with their endocrine system and need to watch certain things
Tweetonce per year should be enough. some docs will even say thats too often if your numbers are good, but if you have insurance why not get it done every year with a physical?

The only reason I think about it is because my dad has diabetes. I used to get free diabetes and cholesterol checks where I work, but they have since stopped doing those. I basically just want to keep those in check. Not sure if blood tests detect cancer or anything, do they? Are there certain cell counts that get high with the appearance of cancer or anything? Just curious

Blood tests can help identify possible cancers, but there are usually specific ones that are run to rule out some cancers. If your cbc comes back normal, that does not necessarily mean that there is no cancer in your body.
I am by no means a medical professional, but I am posting this based on my experience with working with cancer patients for many years.
I have an uncle who was just diagnosed with kidney cancer with mets to the chest wall and his bloodwork had appeared normal for the past year.

TweetMe either. I had no idea if they could do that or not. I was just curious. Thanks

TweetI would say that if there is history of any cancer in your family, that you tell the doc this. Sometimes they will do certain tests if this is the case.

TweetBaby1 is right on target- there are specific tests for certain things and just because your CBC comes back ok doesnt necessarily mean you are healthy- which by the way has been my arguement with some members of this community as well

BABY1 ALWAYS TELLS ME THAT JUST BECAUSE YOU CBC PANEL AND A WHOLE OTHER SWORM OF BLOOD TESTS I GET COME BACK EXCELLENT THAT I SHOULDNT WORRY. BUT I'M ONE OF THOSE PEOPLE THAT THINKS IF MY BLOOD PANEL AND EVERY OTHER PANEL COMES BACK FINE I'M FINE AND HAVE NO WORRIES. AND UNTIL I SEE MY NUMBERS START TO FALL OFF, THEN I WILL WORRY. BUT IN MY MIND IF I SEE GREAT RESULTS I'M FINE AND WILL COMTINUE TO BELEIVE THAT. PEOPLES MINDS PLAY MYSTERIOUS GAMES ON THEM
