TweetAs I said previously to Trip, why do people assume that the fine for not having insurance will remain at $750? That will be raised before the bill even becomes active I assure you. They needed to keep the amount low enough to obtain support for the bill. Once it is passed I would bet a fine of at least the cost of an average policy, and bet it will be much higher to convince people to simply pay the premiums. I am thinking around $10k sounds likely. Think about it, a person making $100k decides not to pay the 8% which would be $8k, then instead pays the $750 fine. However, if he decides to buy it when something catastrophic happens he will be covered by signing up and everyone else who pays their premiums will have covered the uninsured. The fine will have to be at a minimum the price of a policy for an average salary, but judging from other federal fines I would suspect it to be much higher. Trip is already planning to pay the fine and save the difference to pay out of his pocket in case he breaks his leg or something and eat the costs. Well, that is not going to work. The will raise the fine, and I believe eventually they will not allow anyone to pay cash for medical care. Either you have insurance or you don't get treatment. Once again, people trusting the government which is detrimental in itself.
Thomas Jefferson said "The price of freedom is eternal vigilance." This is the truth.
