I know we have at least one or Chiropractor on the board here, and there may be others. So I'll keep it nice I believe what they do is wonderful, and has many benefits. If you have a spine that is out of alignment, you go see a chiropractor, and they will align it for you. However, if you ever stop going, and your spine starts to go back to it's natural alignment, 99.9% of the time, you are in more pain than before you went. So basically, you have to go to one for the rest of your life. As for preventing the flu, the common cold, scurvy, and shlt like that by getting your spine adjusted, I have a hard time believing that stuff. It sounds "Tom Cruise-ic" to me.

Yeah, the scholling is everything. Mine went to the best Chiro school in the nation. They don't just take anyone, like most schools, it's hard to get into the one he went to. I know this because I grew up in ATL and I met a lot of people that went to Life College, which is a school that offers a Chiro graduate program. Some of the people I knew said they applied to the place where my current Chiro went and got turned down.

With that said, I'm sold 100% on it from my personal experiences. Now, it's not for everyone. There are some cases where the problem is more than the result of a subluxation. But, in many cases, it can be benficial. Very beneficial to some and somewhat beneficial to others. The biggest thing is to make sure the doc is continuing his education. Mine goes to seminars through out the year constantly learing new things. He learns about everything from nutrition, to medical drugs, new techniques, you name it. He is constantly gaining wisdom.

Now, for someone who has had about 15 years of experience with them, I can tell you, there is a HUGE difference between a decent one and a really good one. Unfortunately, the inexperienced person will have no way of knowing the difference. So, do your home work. Ask them about their continuing education, ask them where they went to school and research it. I can get you a list of the best schools in a couple days if you want.
I used to have superhuman powers....until my therapist took them away.

I have this, and it even pinches down on nerves at times and hurts like a mug. I have a great chiro that makes me feel like a million bucks for a few days, but I have to go at least twice a week to stay right. And like AOM said, it acts up bad when I stop going, which I have. I just ain't going twice a week for the rest of my life. Who can do that?...until they're retired. It was difficult to keep that up when I didn't have a 9-5!..much less with a real work schedule.
Anyway, the truth is; you either live with the issue as best you can, or commit to a chiropractor forever. Sure, they'll tell you that they'll have your spine alligned in a few months. He/she might even say 1 month, but you'll learn the hard way that that never happens. Nothing against chiropractors. They work wonders, if...<---big if there...if, they are good at what they do. And if you see them regularly.

uhphh...you had to bring it up. My back's hurting just thinking about it... nah, it always bothers me now, but instead of going to a chiro 2/3 times a week, I'll have surgery to relieve the nerve, i.e. move things where they need to be, if it gets to that.

I saw one a few times after I screwed up my back from lifting and after seeing the guy my back hurt even worse. Then he had me going to see him 3 times a week never really did a darn thing for me except releive the pain for just a little while then it would come back the next day just as bad if not worse. Fianlly I stop seeing him and about a month later it got better.

I know one that sux cum out of asses on this board!! Haahaaahaaa....

Seriously though. It REALLY depends on the Chiro. Some are great, and others are just there to bill your insurance (hence, have you come to the them 3x's a week).
I had seriousl lower back problems for years and went to my doctor. He told me to excersize and stretch.. Are you phuking kidding me.. I was in great shape. After another year of pain, I switched doctors. My new one (who also sent me to a good endo and found I needed HRT), well she also sent me to a sports chiro who x-ray me in fl;ex. Found that I had a small fracture in my L4 and a spondylothesis..
As you can gues, this explained the lower back pain I had. I was given 3 choices, 1-Surgery, 2-Cortizone shots, 3- keep a strong core to keep the muscles tight. You guessed it, I took dooe #3. Surgery is not a gaurantee and Cortizone shots just mask the pain..
Now I work out around the injury. I only used a work out belt when it is really heavy so my core gets stronger.

Anyone have statistics on how many people die from drugs and MDs every year???
I go to a chiropractor when I need it...He isnt out to milk me dry and keep me coming in forever. Sometimes I need to go in 3-4 times to get rid of the problem...I know that most NFL teams have team Chiropractors on their staffs. Im sure those guys arent quacks...the best chiropractors I know of are cert in ART..activerelease.com
Thre are so many MDs that know of nothing but drugs...and they will tell you to NOT lift weights and that you DONT need any supplements. All the while they are pulling out their script pads to push the latest fad drug with a laundry list of side effects.

well they have a bad reps here. SO much the college des médecins, which is the board for physicians in quebec, want them banned.

they seems to be more into contiuing your pain and problems than curing it unfortunately. I went to one, and really did not liked it, most of the people I know are in the same boat.

also the association of chiro of quebec, got lot of ****. A woman died many month ago after a badly performed move killed her, right away that association tried to protect their member with bs instead of protection the population and it gave them a bad image. also they want so much to replace traditional medicine it is a shame, hell mine was alway bugging me about not to take this for a cold, not to take steroid, a few crack here and there and ronnie would look like a midget, im not kidding you.

same chiro, I went to her because my aunt was going there and shes the daughter inlaw of their neighbor, which I know the guy since im like baby born. She convinced her mom in law not to take her medication for the heart and diabetes but to replace it with chiro treatment, ....... either they want her killed or.. lol

anyway they have their place when it comes to back, but thats it.
