TweetOk, Ive been searching for a VERY long time to find the perfect artist to do a half-sleeve for me,... I'm going to Ed Hardy's in San Francisco...

The artist is VERY well known and does EXCELLENT work,... they charge a flat rate of $180 per hour... I know this is a lot, but is this typical for an elite tattoo artist??

This thing is going to end up costing me nearly $2,000!!

Tweet$180 is indeed a lot of money even for a well known artist. I don't care who he is, 99% of artist get paid about $100. $2000 is alot of cash.

My advice to you is, look for someone else.

TweetWELL I PAID FULL PRICE ON MY VERY FORST ONE BUT AFTER THAT I USED TO WORK OUT WITH MY TATOO GUY SINCE WE ALL WENT TO THE GYM SO I ALWAYS GOT A HUGE DISCOUNT.I HAVE 10 TATS ON MY LEFT ARM SO I SAY ABOUT $1500. AND THEREALL KINDA BIG EXCEPT FOR THE 3 EYED OCTAPUS AROUND MY WRIST. IF I HAD TO PAY FULL PRICE ON ALL OF THEM WOW THERE ALL WORTH ABOUT 3-4K I PRICED MY MEAN ASS LOOKING SHARP TEETH VERY COLORFUL FISH THATS 9INCHES LONG 4NCHES WIDE AND I PAID $200 BUT AT OTHER TAT PLACES THEY ALL SAID $500EASY FOR THAT TAT ALONE. I HIT THE JAXCK POT WHEN I MET MY TAT GUY

Tweetyeah thanks for the info, its a pretty unique and comlicated peice, so I really dont have that much of a problem paying a lot for it being that its freaking permanent...

follow up question:

I know a lot of people tip, but at $180 an hour, is a tip really all that necessary?

Tweetyeah I would think a tip is expected. Its like going to denny's and buying a 10dollar steak or going to some high end place and buying a steak for 60 dollars they still expect that tip.
