i just saw this and ordered it last week....it seems like it could be what i (we) need...i should have it by wednesday.....i'll let you know how it's working...
TweetAnyone have it? Any suggestions how to deal with it? I have had pain that runs from the glute area to the hip, groin, down the back of my leg, and to the heel of my foot. I haven't done cardio in 2 weeks because it makes it worse. Also have been only working on upper body, with my trainer, for the past 2 weeks. I have tried, ice, heat, celbrex, flexiril, now the doc put me on a Medrol dosepak, even went out an bought new gym shoes. I am getting frustrated cause I can't workout and sleeping is disrupted also. It is hard to get comfotable, and sitting is the worst. I have made some good progress since I am working with a trainer and I am afraid this will set me back. Any advice would be appreciated.

TweetI get sciatic quite a bit, I find getting a good massage along with some muscle relaxers can really help the pain until the nerve loosens up...if its continual (longer than a month) I'd say see your doc.
TweetIVE BEEN TELLING MY WIFE TO GO TO THE DOC BUT SHE HAS TO LISTEN TO EVERYONE ELSE INSTEAD SO SHE WILL HAVE PAIN. SHE IS TRING THAT MEDROL DOSE PAK NOW BUT SHE NEEDS TO GO ASAP. SO IF SHE WANTS TO LIVE IN PAIN A LITTLE WHILE LONGER THEN TOUGH LET HER DO IT.I'M NOT HAPPY WITH IT

Tweetwhen i get stressed out i have terrible sciatic pain. hurts from my glute to about my knee. it can be crippling. I had to go to a chiropractor for a few week. now i stretch it 2 times a day and ice if it acts up. what is happening is the nerve gets inflamed so dont use heat.

TweetA bulging or herniated disc can cause the pain your describing and moms have all kinds of stress to the lower back.
good luck
TweetI had it for years, literally. Then, when I was a bouncer at this one club with a few dudes that were going to Chiropractic school in ATL, I went into the clinic for them to get hours. I think they need like 250 adjustments to graduate or something like that. Anyways, after a couple adjustments I realized that the pain was totally gone and so I told my bro. He pulled my xrays back out and the overseer looked at them and said that my SI joint was out of place the whole time and it was pulling my the nerve. I've never had the problem at a chroic level ever a gain. I say chroic because there are times I sleep weird and things move and then I have pain. So, I go see my Chiropractor and all better. I've been going off and on for about 10 years so I usually don't need adjustments that often because the muscles have learned to hold the bones in place. However, there are those heavy lifts in the gym or sleeping funny positions that can make things move. So, I got get adjusted and it's all better.
I also learned to do a couple really good glute stretches that keep the muscle of the hip loose so they don't get tight and pull things out of place. I would bet if you went to a Chiropractor you will feel better immediately. That is of course if it's because of a subluxation.
Another thing to consider is how the nerve runs. Some people have an issue because the nerve runs right through or around some muscles and causes it to get stretched and pinched all the time. The only remedy for that is stretching. You need to get the muscles of the hips so flexible that they don't pull on the nerve. It's rare, but it's possible. However, if your's is a new thing, I would bet it's because of somethign out of place.
TweetUUMMMM, SOOO...WHAT YOUR SAYING IS, SHE PROBOBLY NEEDS TO GO SEE SOMEONE ABOUT IT, HUH?....GOOD ADVICE

TweetThanks for the advice. It is definitely better. I have talked to the doctor who prescribed me muscle relaxers and a steroid pak, to try first and that seems to be helping. Along with that, I have been doing myofascial release (massaging with a foam roller) then icing. With having HMO insurance, the doctors try different things before they refer you further. I may decide to go see a chiroprator, but I have heard some bad things about some of them and that scares me.

Tweetatleast you talked with a doc. hopfully that'll do it for you. i'm not a big fan of chiropactor's either, but i guess if i had that pain going on, and the doc. couldnt do anything, i'd have to give it a shot

TweetAs with any doctor, you have to check them out. There are Chiropractors that have actually broke people's necks due to their incompetence. It's pretty simple....if the bone won't move, don't force it! Mine is one of the best I've ever met and like I said I've beein going on and off for over a decade. If something won't move, he gets teh muscles loose so it will move. I've had Chiropractors try to force things to move and then you end up more sore than you were when you went in.
The thing with Chiropractors is they are usually as good as the school they came from. The top schools have the top teachers and so those students learn more. There are several top tier schools. However, I would be willing to bet that on an HMO, you won't get referred to a Chiropractor. MD's and Chiroprators do not see eye to eye. MD's want to give you drugs to treat the problem and Chirpractors want to prevent the problem from coming back. Of course, if they succeed, that's less business for MD's and less kick backs for writing all those scripts. If you look at what your MD has done already you can see what i'm talking about, they have already giving you two drugs. Then, they will try different ones and keep going in that direction. Unfortunately, if your pain is the result of a bone that's out of place, it's going to need to be put back in place. The next best bet is a Physical Therpist. They too know how to manipulate bones and joints and could very well get you back on track as well. When I tore my Achilles my PT adjusted my hip joint for me because the boot was causing me to walk funny. So, that may be the route to go with an HMO.
