TweetI meant boost my metabolism.
TweetI want to boost my cardio and use the treadmill as well as an eliptical runner. I am hitting my target rate according to the treadmill and frequently go beyond the target. Is that a bad thing? I also run on the eliptical low impact machines...whatever they're called. I'm sure my heart rate is above the target. thoughts on going beyond the target and which is better: walking or running? Thanks.
TweetI meant boost my metabolism.
TweetIf you go above your target heart rate its just as bad as being below it. Its ok if you go a little above it but when you are right on thats when you are going to burn the maximum excess body fat. I would say you can either walk or run, walking is better on the joints, and the eliptical walker and elliptical trainer are both great IMO
TweetHere's another question for you beachgirl: on the treadmill and those elliptical trainers it gives me the option of doing a cardio workout vs a fatburning workout. Since the cardio workout boosts your heart rate up beyond the fat burning workout, isn't it better to always do the cardio workout? Should I change it up once in a while? Which one is better for boosting your metabolism? Finally, does the body go into a different calorie burning mode if it is in cardio vs fat burning? Sorry for all the questions.

Tweeti am sorry i just don't have the time to explain in detail.
forget about slow-go cardio in the target heart rate, it is not the best and is based on a flawed principle,
do some research on HIIT -- high intensity interval training
no worries on going above your heart rate
i am out of town for the next week or so
