One of my buddies is on this "diet" he eats nothing but chicken breasts and brown rice for all of his meals. He is big and he is getting pretty ripped ( I see a difference) since he has started doing this about 3 weeks ago. Is this healthy? Will it work?

      Wink ckicken and brown rice

I'm sort of on the same diet, but I like to throw in some veggies, and fruite, and I also switch up the carbs and protien. Like tuna and steak, and of corse lots of eggs, for my carbs I'll bounce between pasta, banannas, oatmeal, and rice and some time chilly, butt that can have an effect on other people so I stay light on that. I guss if you you use the rule of 1gr. of protien per lb of body wieght, and 2gr of carbs per lb of body wieght you'll bulk up. This works for me butt that dosn't mean that its the most effective, I'm still rather new at this, and still trying two learn as much as possible.

that kind of strict diet is fine but i would go crazy and binge. i like a more diverse diet and just try to eat clean. also he is missing out on alot of vitamins and minerals not eating veggies

I think you should always eat some red meat and tuna.

Your friend needs to include fruits and vegetables in his diet. Also, different foods have different contents of key vitamins and minerals. So, he needs to add some variety to his diet.

      I agree.

There is nothing special about rice. It is just a source of carbohydrates.

Put "glycemic index" in a search engine to learn more about various carbs

I was thinking about doing the same diet because of convience. The more I look for variety the more I read about how this will effect you this way or that way. It has too much sugar, not enough protien, to many carbs, not enough fiber etc...

that is about all i eat now. I do eat vegies with the rice and chicken and i do mix up the vegies so its not the same at every meal. Some people think im nuts to just eat chicken all the time but i do change it a bit week to week, might have tuna for a while or lots of eggs but thats it. Keep it simple for now while trying to cut and drop weight..

long grain brown rice... make sure you don't overcook it

Also, give Barley a shot!! It's an AWSOME carb source. It has a very low GI. Only problem is it doesn't taste all that great
