TweetDamn man, im sorry to hear. Id be just as bummed. Our dogs are supposed to be just as kind as we are, even to fellow pets.
TweetTonight, I saw my dog down at the end of the drive with a small cat in his mouth and he is whipping it like a rag doll trying to break its neck. I sprinted as fast as I could and knocked him away from the cat. I did everything I possibly could to save that cats life. Im hoarse tonight from yelling so loud. Everytime I would get close to grab my dog he would take off running with the cat in his mouth. I separated them and he just kept attacking. That cat was fighting hard for its life. It all happened so fast. Probably in 30 seconds.
Finally, I chased him down and he dropped the dead cat. I was so pissed at that dog. I have never been so pissed at him. I was yelling as loud as I could for him to stop and he ignored me and just kept going like a wild animal.
I realize animals have an instinctive drive to kill, but its still hard to witness something like that. I guess its not really his fault. The cat showe d up on my property and is now dead. Im not one of those people who hates cats. I just hope it was a wild feral cat that was not someones family pet. Theres a lot of wild animals around here and the average life expectancy for a cat is about 2 years out here.
My dog is the sweetest and most affectionate animal you could imagine. Its just a real drag to have to see something like that. I will be going out at sunrise to bury the cat. I guess I shouldnt take this so hard, but I really feel bad about it. Oh well, shit, thats life.
TweetDamn man, im sorry to hear. Id be just as bummed. Our dogs are supposed to be just as kind as we are, even to fellow pets.
TweetThanks man. Im assuming the cat was nobodies pet and just one of the many wild cats that live out here in farm country.
I have control over my dog. Hes well trained. He could be running and if I tell him to stop he stops on a dime. Tonight, it was a whole different ball game. I dont believe in hitting dogs, but I even kicked him off that cat to try and save that cat. I was fighting hard for that cat. If I could have just got hold of the dogs collar, I could have stopped him but he was just to fast for me. I tried. God knows, I tried.
TweetI would feel the same way. It is good that you wer going to bury the cat and that this shows the compassion you have for animals

TweetLOL...its ok man, you can crack some cat jokes. Im over it and buried the cat this morning. Youre right , its nature and the food chain. That cat was a wild animal, just like all the squirrels and gophers my dog chases. Life goes on. I just hope no more cats venture on to my land because I am getting tired of burying them
TweetIt sucks seeing something like that. I understand about the food chain and animals living in the wild, but when I see something like that, it still hits home a little as animal lover. It even gets to me when I drive down the road and see an animal get hit or something. I couldn't imagine seeing that from one of my boxers.

TweetAwww I'm sorry to hear that Dzone. It happens and its nature . Especially for dogs. All you can do is give the kitty a good funeral to ease the sadness. I know some people say its just an animal. But I'm an animal lover and I would have burried the kitty and have put some flowers on its grave. Said a little prayer . That always makes me feel a bit better.
TweetSorry to hear it brother.Im also an animal lover and this would have bothered me too.
Glad to hear you buried the cat though.I know many say its just an animal but I have always seen animals as "LIVING CREATURES" They deserve no less respect than us and for many losers out there a lot more.Animal never kill each other for the fun of it,or hate,or greed or envy,or to steal our stuff like humans do so who's the better species? lol
TweetVery violent dog hu?
In all fairness, it does sound like the cat trespassed?? I wonder why the cat let the dog get sooooo close to it.
Cats generally run like trains away from dogs.
