      Default Blood Tests

      what are you guys looking for and when before and after cycle should you get them?

      I do not have a family doctor and therefore I am not sure what kind of doc I should be going to. Obviously you don't tell your doc you are taking AAS or should I find a doc that is familiar with HRT or something?

      Just trying to get schooled on everything. thnx

      Any doc will do. You need a complete cbc panel done with thyroid and testosterone with LH and FSH done

      Doctors have a Doctor/patient confidentiality oath. I always told my doctor I was on roids. Why lie to your doctor if you want him to monitor you? I remember my first trip to my Doc in 1991. I said "Doc, I know you're not going to agree with me, and I know you're going to tell me to stop, but I'm taking steroids. I would appreciate it of you can monitor me with blood tests and check my blood pressure every few weeks to make sure I'm handling them well. If you decide not to, no hard feelings at all, but I'm going to need to find a doctor that will."
      Your Doc can't go running to the police and tell them you're taking steroids. Now, if you tell your Dr that you murdered someone, different story.
      But it's always nest to be honest with your Doc.

      Do you have medical coverage? If not, search under my username. There is an internet company that does the work fairly cheap. Here is another but not as cheap as the one I posted. https://www.labtestsonline.org
      You will want to check:
      Liver Enzymes
      Testosterone (free and total)
      CBC (complete blood count) or better yet CMP (comprehensive metobolic panel) wich will include liver and kidney function.
      If you are prone to gyno you will want to check estradiol and prolactin. I could go on but this is the basics.

      I do have medical coverage, I had my liver enzymes checked before I started my first cycle and also just a general check-up/physical minus the prostate exam! I think i am going to make an appointment this week to go see a doc. and get some reccomendations to another good doc. to see if mine falls through, also to tell him whats up and see if he will help me out.

      Be careful with the whole "being honest with your doctor thing" It could and probably will come back to haunt you! As a matter of fact, I'm going to start a new thread on it.

      Well, if i am doing something or putting chemicals in my body that hinder and alter my structure then someone should be able to monitor me or alteast make sure i am not putting something in that could end my life. I am beginning to think I should just stick to natural, it seems too hard to retrieve all the correct chemicals needed for a cycle and I am not strong minded enough to properly understand the chemical chains and property's of all the stuff i need to use and how it all works together and what not.It is almost like i need a mentor for atleast my first 2 cycles, but it isn't something i can put an ad in the local paper for.....

      Default Re: Blood Tests

      well, got my blood test back today and there were a few concerns from my doc and he is refering me to a blood specialist. results are:

      Potassium= high

      ALK Phosphatase= high

      Hemoglobin= high

      Hematocrit= high

      MPV= high

      Esinophil= high

      Basically my test levels are moderately low (which was suspected) and my red blood cell count is high, also i have some altered liver functions. I was exspecting something but I am not sure if there is something to be worried about or if i should wait to go to the specialist and have another test ran in a few weeks to see if my body will correct the levels itself. I am almost finished with PCT and probably should have waited a few weeks before getting a test just to see if things got normal again. Shit like this worries me b/c I don't know the all the dangers and how it can long term affect me and how i need to correct things without seeing a doctor. IDK

      My questions are am i taking enough NAC/ milk thistle or does it matter, and what results do you guys get after a cycle? Also, I am curious to what has spiked my potassium levels <--- (question for doc)

      What Are the Causes of High Potassium Levels?

      look this up in a search

      The Problem of Hyperkalemia

      • Potassium is a metallic element that's vital to the proper operation of living cells. Besides helping to regulate muscle tissue, potassium is involved in digestion. It's also involved in metabolism and maintaining the balance between chemical and electrical body processes (homeostasis). However, having too much potassium in the bloodstream, a condition known as hyperkalemia, is a concern that needs addressing. High potassium levels can cause muscle cramps, nausea, frequent urination, diarrhea, dehydration, irritability, confusion, paralysis and other painful symptoms.

      Kidney Damage and Diabetes

      • Because the kidneys are responsible for removing excess potassium, hyperkalemia is mostly because of kidney problems where the kidneys aren't able to do their job of excreting potassium. Disorders such as lupus nephritis, transplant rejection and chronic renal failure can damage kidneys, causing high potassium levels. When dialysis treatments are shortened or omitted, potassium levels can build up to unsafe levels, leading to heart problems and even death. Because diabetics have weakened kidney capacity, type 1 diabetes can make them prone to high potassium levels. When this problem is compounded with a lack of insulin, both fluid and potassium can get into the bloodstream, causing high potassium.

      Adrenal Dysfunction

      • Adrenal dysfunction is another reason for high potassium. Located next to the kidneys, the adrenal glands secrete aldosterone, a hormone causing the kidneys to excrete potassium in urine. Therefore, any malfunction of the adrenal glands can lead to a problem in high potassium. Addison's disease is a typical disorder causing adrenal dysfunction.

      Trauma

      • Trauma alone isn't enough to cause a problem with high potassium. However, when trauma is coupled with another medical problem, it can lead to excess potassium. Trauma to tissues can result in cells releasing potassium. Surgeries, burns, gastrointestinal bleeding, tumors, comas, injuries and hemolytic conditions in which blood cells burst are some examples of traumas which can lead to high potassium levels. When red blood cells die, they release potassium into the bloodstream. Normally, excessive potassium is emitted through the kidneys. However, when the kidneys aren't able to work properly, it can cause a surplus of potassium in the bloodstream.

      Substance Abuse

      • Abusing alcohol and drugs can cause muscle fibers to break down, resulting in potassium being released in the bloodstream, causing a condition known as rhabdomyolysis. This condition involves the breakdown of skeletal muscle tissue, leading to damaged muscle cells breaking down in the bloodstream. In some cases, kidneys can be damaged, even resulting in kidney failure.

      Medications

      • Different medicines can increase potassium in the bloodstream. ACE-inhibitor blood medications are a good example. Other medications that cause too much potassium may include nonsteroidal anti-inflammatories, lithium, blood-thinning medicines and calcium channel blockers.

      firstenrgy, I have a complete print-out of my blood work, a family member manages the doctors office i go to so I get all the info I need! What do you need me to give you, i had a test in Jan. and all levels were fine, I think mostly some of the things are altered b/c of gear, I also think that the shitty multi v's i got from GNC had something to do with my test also or atleast might explain the ulcers i got recently. I noticed last time i used their vitamins i felt a little stranger than normal and so i discontinued use of them, i ran out of my normal v's and still had some so i figured i would take them until i needed more BUT i stopped taking them a few days ago and waiting to get more. Any suggestions as to some good multi's NOT from GNC? BTW, I do not shop at GNC anymore for the record, a friend opened up a Nutrition store locally and i have shopping there for around 6 months.

      Just the values of the test. You wrote potassium was high. In the labwork, what is normal range and what did yours come in at?
      Mostly your lab results on the potassium and you liver values. These are the two I would be most concerned with.

      Potassium= 3.5 - 5.0 / mine= 5.1

      ALK Phosphatase= 39-117 / mine= 119

      I was told that the liver function wasn't that much to worry about, it was the red blood cell count. I think it is all gear related and i am gonna reshcedule my appt. with the specialist and have my doc run another test after my PCT is over and see if my levels have dropped any.
