TweetBro not to bust your stones although most of what you say is true there are a few things I would like to clear up. 1 just because a dogs parents have OFA cert. dose not mean the offspring will OFA. 2 hip diplaysia has not been proven to be gentic. It is in all probability genticly linked in some way however enviornment plays a bigger role. Also there is still controvery between OFA ratings system. Pen hip rateing seems to be a better gage. Futher more it is probable that anabolics may help K-9 HD by building bigger muscle which will keep hips togeter betterOriginally posted by bigshug
Most purebred dogs have genetic problems associated with simply being larger than other dogs. Two such problems are hip displasia and patellar disfunction(usually manifests as elbow problems). Unless your breeder is getting his stock certified by the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (OFA) before they breed, you have no way of knowing whether your dog will be displastic later on in life or suffer from elbow or joint problems. Any number of external factors can quicken the onset of these mostly genetic disorders but probably the most common results from high protein diets given to puppies that make them grow too rapidly. In short, their hips and joints cannot take such quick growth and, as a result, they succumb to a crippling and very painful disorder that usually results in incredibly expensive surgery (most people don't give a shit about their animals and don't take this route) or euthanasia. Giving your dog AS could also either cause similar growth spurts OR could stress an otherwise healthy dog's skeletal system to the point of becoming displastic or suffering ruptured elbow joints. What we do to ourselves is our own decision, but to endanger the life of a friend - one who would give his own life for you without hesitation - just so you can say that your dog is the biggest is fucking stupid.

TweetActually we trained him like that. It may be hilarious but no clean up for me or shit stains on the carpet. :p And they do make litter boxes for dogs, just in case you were wondering.
