TweetHolyfield Denies Steroid Allegations
March 2, 2007
Former world heavyweight boxing champion Evander Holyfield denied any links to an Internet steroid distribution ring from which authorities say he was a customer.
"I do not use steroids. I have never used steroids," said the 44-year-old US fighter who is in the midst of a comeback bid to claim the heavyweight throne for a fifth time.
"I resent that my name has been linked to known steroid users by sources who refuse to be identified in order to generate publicity for their investigation."
Federal agents raided pharmacies in Florida and Alabama, with authorities telling a newspaper of Albany, New York, that Holyfield used the name "Evan Fields" when placing orders from a mobile, Alabama, pharmacy.
Major league baseball and National Football League players were also named on the customer list following Tuesday's seizures of records and computers.
"I'm disappointed that certain members of the media fell for this ploy and chose to use my name in headlines and published my photo alongside stories in today's newspaper about an investigation into a practice that has nothing to do with me or what I stand for," Holyfield said.
Asked by reporters about his purchase of performance-enhancing drugs, Holyfield replied, "enhance me to do what?"
Holyfield will turn 45 in October, the same age as George Foreman when he recaptured the heavyweight title with a stunning 1994 upset of Michael Moorer.
Holyfield was given a medical suspension by New York state athletic commission officials in 2004 for diminished skills and poor performance but the ban was revised in 2005 so other states could license him to fight.

TweetI think it's a safe bet Holyfield has used, same for every other boxer that ever had a degree of success.
TweetI know damn well he took them. He used to train with Lee Haney at Lee's gym in ATL.
TweetU can use performance enhancing devices like: human motion research labs, carbon fiber bats, nike color contact lens to improve ur game. But God forbid using HRT to keep u balanced and growing...he is a great athlete. And what got him there still exists but with HRT it allowed him to keep perfecting his skill...IMO

Who cares!!!! Evander has the physical atrtributes most Americans should aspire to!! While he is a past-champion, why is he he scrutinized for sustaining his abilities as he sees fit?? He knows his limitations, skills, adversities, needs and requirements for putting his hat in the ring!! Give the MAN his just deserves, especially if he is willing to make the life-adjustments to extend the recent findings of drug-usage!!
TweetStallone and Evander!! Come on!!! Big BOYZ with phenomenal genetic potential!! Why not extend for as long as you feel strong physically and psychologically?? Warriors that feel the need to extend their current circumstances/careers beyond what society will allow!! Even though skills and genetics can get you so far, why can't legends explore avenues available to Champions!!!!??? Foreman=FAT and the "MAN" as well as later Champ!! Evander's physical attributes extend beyond his age and declarations of general sports viability!! If he knows how to work it with his body and mind, he can be "Champ" again!!
Tweeti think steroids should be mandatory in all PROFESSIONAL sports!! i pay to see BIG mothaphuqers smash the sh!t out of other BIG mothaphuqers!!! i think they should be handed out a shcedule, given a specific cycle and nutrition info, and directions to a doctor, prescription, and pharmacy!!! they should be directed for offseason use, and on season use. the cycles should be tailored to there specific sport and position in that sport....that'd make the sh!t entertaining!
i also believe baseball should be a contact sport!! (we'll save that for another discussion)
HE WHO MAKES A BEAST OF HIMSELF, GET'S RID OF THE PAIN OF BEING A MAN!!

I LOVE BOOBOOKITTY...
TweetHolyfield, Tyson, Tommy Morrison, James Toney, Razor Ruddick, Andrew Gulotta, etc.... I believe at one point in the early 90's, probably 60% of the heavyweight boxers were juiced.
I could only imagine if a guy like Roy Jones Jr was taking GH at the height of his career!! Dude was one of the top 10 strongest punchers pound for pound. Anyone remember when he broke Virgil Hill's rib?
