I was just wondering why some people want to get so big. I mean I am trying to get big because i play football but I'm still not as big as some people that I talk to. I mean whats the point in being 6'0'' 300lb and looking huge but that person has to spend so much money on gear and food I just have to wonder want is the reason. I dont think that people who are that big look good. If its for intimidation I dont think when somebody who is over 6 foot and weighs over 230 makes all that much of a difference. Not trying to flame on anybody but it just makes me wonder?

I agree, but everyone has different goals I suppose. I would much rather be 5'11" 200lbs 10%, than be 5'11" 250lbs 18%, but thats just me. I guess the only people who can understand are the big boys themselves..who knows, maybe if I ever got that huge I would change my mind..

Well, there is such a thing as reverse anorexia (can't remember the exact term for it). No matter how big someone gets, they're still not satisfied. They still see themselves as small even though they get compliments and such from people around them. Personally, I admire the physique of say a Flex Wheeler more than that of a Dorian Yates or Markus Ruhl.

The flipside - some people just wanna be freaks! To each his own. I have respect for any guy or girl that busts their ass in the gym, whether they're 150lbs or 300lbs, whether they choose to use performance enhancing drugs or not.

i know exactly were people like that come from. Its simple. Just think about it in terms of cars and drag racing. Everyone wants a fast car but some guys just dump all kinds of time and money into them and have so much more horse power than anyone else. Whats the point of having so much power. The answer is to have the best/fastest thing out there. Like bodybuilding and size these guys all want to be the bigest out there in simpler terms "Im bigger than you are and no one can match me" I see no problem with this.

I think it's primal. The biggest beast -usually- gets to reproduce the most.

Personally, I love women, and women are -typically- attracted to a bigger guy.

This, in addition to me thinking that it simply looks good to be muscular AND in shape, makes me desire a bigger, more muscular physique.

I think every frame is different, and if you are say 6'4" you may have to pack on an additional 25lbs to look great compared to the average Joe... it's all relative. Let's not forget that muscle weighs more than fat given the same volume.

If I happen to get into a car accident, it would be nice to have say an extra 30 lbs over and above my "normal" weight to eat off of while they have me on the drip for 2 weeks. This actually happened to me when I was younger, and let's just say I dropped a good portion of my quality weight.

Take a look at Arnold in T3 and tell me you don't want to look like that at his age! Simply amazing (Ya, I know, he was a FREAK).

Yet, I understand your point when you say: 6' 300lbs. Perhaps most people would view a person of that size as TOO big. Yet at the same time, I have noticed that many bodybuilders prefer the look of a totally ripped/roided woman. Even my tastes have changed in the last few years toward a more perfect 'fitness america' type chick.

      I'm babbling.
I know nothing about any of this insanity... it's just a fun game to me.

      Its a POWER thing. Darwinism.

Even if there wasn't a single female on Earth, I would still work out and want to get big!

i love to work out as much as the next guy and i understand that women do like a good built guy. they feel protected but I dont think that women like a big bulk of muscle and fat. I mean if i was 6'3'' 250 and my bodyfat was above 15% i would want to drop about 30 lb and get my body fat down to 10% when it comes to women I think they like a man thats fit and in shape not a big bulk of fat that has trouble hiking on a trail because the farthest he walks is the car to the gym?
I dont know i guess i just blabbing now

      LOL.

It's all about personal preferance and attitude. I want to be the best ie. biggest leanest, and will do anything within reason to get there.

It's called "body dysmorphia". There's a book that talked about it: "The Adonis Complex: How to Identify, Treat and Prevent Body Obsession in Men and Boys," by Harrison G. Pope, a psychiatrist who's also a weight lifter. I read the whole book but I still suffer the symptoms: always seeing myself as small, even though the numbers and comments from other people suggest otherwise. I'm simply unable to believe I'm not small no matter what I was told.

The author suggested this condition is related to OCD and suggested anti-depression medication such as Paxil might help. Havn't tried that route since I'm otherwise sane.

The authors also mentioned a study they conducted and revealed surprising results: They showed pictures of male body in different degrees of muscularity to women and ask them to rate the pictures. Then they showed the same pictures to men and ask them to rate the pictures based on what they _think_ women would like. The study shows women actually like less muscles on men than men think women do. (Don't flame me, I'm just telling what I read)
