TweetI played football in the late 90s and early 2000s for a major college program. Yes, steroids were given out to certain players by the trainers during this time. Mostly orals. I did not take any until my lates 20s, I was too afraid. But I talked to some people though the years that smaller schools had the whole program on steroids!!! Yes, I know this also happened at the Divisin 1 level. The Nebraska Cornhuskers team was on juice during the 80s and 90s. They DOMINATED.

People have to remember steroid were "legal" in the 60s, 70s and most of the 80s. The felony crap started in 1990. The Steelers and Cowboys were also the "king" of roids during the 70s. They combined for 6 Superbowl wins from 1970 to 1980. I am not surprised the Chargers were also using roids but fining guys.........wow. That is new to me and does not suprise me.

Tweeti dont have any first hand knowledge of how it works at the college or pro level but one of the kids that graduated behind me about 4-5 years. well this kid was about 6ft something and well under 200 as a senior going into college. by end of his freshman year he was a tight end in the 260s and his neck was bigger than my waist. he actually turned pro and was a top tier nfl tight end until he retired. now i am pretty good with training and nutrition and he went to a div 1 school and i know their stuff is top of the line but i find it hard to believe that he did that naturally just with the weight room and food program at the school. i mean after a year he didnt even look like the same person.

I know what you mean as I have a friend who played QB in high school and got a scholarship to a major D1 school. Left high school at around 210-215 at 6’4”. He redshirted his freshman year and they switched him to defensive end and he went from 215 to almost 260 in his freshman year! I wouldn’t have ever believed it, if it wasn’t for the fact that he was a friend whom I saw quite a bit. I remember when he walked into the gym he went to high school at(we were playing summer league basketball) and I was in awe! Not only was he fuckin huge but he was so unbelievably strong and nimble. He ended up getting to 267lbs in less than a year and a half. They(university he played for) were sponsored by Met-rx at the time and he said every position had specific amounts of protein and weight gainers they had to finish each week. He said he would get 1-2 5lb containers of protein powder and 2-3 5lb containers of weight gainer per week to consume. There strength and conditioning coach is legendary in the college football coaching world. He said that you never brought a unfinished container back lol
