Tweetdeep tissue and graston are great methods at breaking up scare tissue. iastm is also a form of graston that massage therapist do and is the same principles. both graston and iastm are techniques used to break up scar tissue. i highly encourage it for both pain free training and what you are asking as well

TweetDoes graston cause any surface tissue damage? The pain would be worth it to smooth out some spots from years of pinning.
Tweetno actual damage but you will get some inflammation and irritation right after the treatment. very effective techniques for sure and depending on the amount of scar tissue build up it may take a few session to get through the layers of damage. that's what one of my lady's told me, she said it was not possible to get through a large amount of build up in one session

Tweetmy glutes and shoulders are wrecked. started doing sub Q in the stomach. plenty of area there.
TweetTriceps and shoulders go pop ,pop, pop Everytime I pin
TweetYep my glutes are riddled with scar tissue. All I pinned for many, many years was glutes. That was with home made finaplex gear (it wasn't close to sterile). Now for the most part I rotate
TweetDoes foam rolling work to break up scar tissue m, especially if you do it or Zone in on certain areas , spots ???
Tweetno, you have to be able to get deep into the muscle in order to bust that stuff up. it will help loosen the muscle up and trigger points to some extent but that's about it.

Tweetnever done Graston but have done Airosti, basically the same thing. years will flow even if you feel like you are not crying. I bet it could break up scar tissue from injects too.
