TweetNope and my wife is an RN. The newest guidlines for her in the hospital say not to aspirate for IM injections. That if you are doing it right you are not close enought to a major blood vessel.
TweetUsed to religiously but rarely do anymore

TweetEverytime. It's habit at this point.
TweetI do not anymore
TweetI always do and have for years. I never did way back when I first started, but couple times had that "take your breath away" feeling in your chest accidentally getting too close to a blood vessel or something. After experiencing that a couple times back in the day I started aspirating every time and have been for years since.
TweetAlways! Good habit. Wait till you dont and hit a vein! You decide after that!
Tweeti don't never have..
TweetNever have in 25 years of IM injections
TweetEverytime
TweetYup, this is true.
The Center for Disease Control says not to aspirate anymore. They said the damaged caused by it, in both increased pain and inflammation in the muscle, did not outweigh the slim chance of injecting directly into a vein.
TweetI don't aspirate either never really did in 20yrs
