It is always therapeutic to know that you are not alone in your mentality. It is important to understand why you do the things that you do, and this thread will help us explore our tendancies and the reasoning behind them. The more we understand why we do things, and our mentality, the better decisions we can make for our future. Most of us have some kind of back story that links to the reasoning for our steroid use. I am sure I can relate to many of your stories, and hearing them makes me take solace that the way I think might be "normal".

I am sure I have a similar story as many on here. I was skinny in adolescence and picked on because of it. I started lifting weights heavily to compensate and never looked back. I gained size, but many other people were more muscular and bigger, so I felt inadequate. When I finally Did my first cycle, I gained 30lbs of muscle and put 80lbs on my bench in 4 weeks. As I continued, I kept getting bigger and stronger. There were far a few between that I thought looked bigger and better than I, yet I had an inferiority complex, self image issues, body dysmorphia, or whatever you want to call the concept that I could not get big enough and if I lost a pound I was self conscious about it.

I have lived two completely different lives. One without anabolic steroids, and the one after my first cycle until present. After that first cycle I was suddenly respected. People would now move out of my way in a bar and apologize even if I bumped in to them. My boss suddenly gave me a raise for no reason. Heads would turn when I entered a room. People made an effort to be extra nice to me.

I have lived two lives, and I like this one much, much better.

Sometimes we don't understand the real reasons motivating our life decisions, and this thread may help people understand why they have decided to use steroids. If anyone else would like to share their hidden reasons for their use, it helps us as a community relate and understand the reasoning behind our actions.

      Thanks everyone!

I actually started because I was naturally thin. Both my parents are super skinny so I got that trait from them. When I started lifting again after high school I was about 150 pounds. I mean I ate everything in sight and only got to 165 in about 2 years. Just couldn't put on weight.
I wanted to try just test and not all the other compounds out there. So my first cycle was only 250/week test enanthate. I was 30 then. Gained more weight and my confidence was so high.
Now I still only do test. I have done eq and test together a couple times...but just test now

I have always been a small guy. High school I was 5' 6" @ 116lbs. Joined the Marine Corps and worked out all the time. I got to 136lbs and 265lbs bench naturally.

I didn't start AAS until I was 40 years old. My testosterone level was way low and a buddy introduced me to the lifestyle. He hooked me up with Test and Deca. I went from 136lbs to 160lbs and haven't looked back.

My first cycle was a mess. No support meds / no PCT. then I studied and researched my ass off.

I've realized support meds and lab work are a must to remain healthy. No more PCT here. I'm on TRT from this point on.

I can say the AAS makes me push myself harder in the gym than I ever have and Tren is alpha sex in a bottle.

Mentally it keeps me focused and motivated and I love the way I feel.

      Stay strong brothers!

For me it was all about being competitive in bodybuilding competitions. I entered my first contest 100% natural . I did okay but got smoked by juicers.

i have no desire to be huge. but there is a decided difference between my athletic performance and recovery at almost 50 years old on and off.

on TRT with low doses of var or winny after training, i recover faster and it increases the quality of my life.

I have been the runt of the litter most of my life. I've worked out on and off from 15 years old till present. I would get a groove going in the gym then I would see other people blowing by me in gains. I would feel inferior and give up. 2004 I was in a club with my gf a fight broke out she pushed I retaliated only to wake up in the ambulance. I just wasn't big enough strong enough or quick enough. I fell into a depression after that. 2007 I got pretty sick very ill actually. By the time I was recovered it was 08 I weighed a whopping 118# yes 118# very very week but healthy. So I started eating by May of 08 I was up to 130#. I went to the gym with a good friend. Went to the bench to warm up and 95# crushed me. I needed a spot I was panicked. Quite a few guys giggled and laughed at me. I ran out humiliated and in tears. I swore I would never do that again.

About a week went by I was furious that people could make another person feel that poorly of themselves. I decide I was going to be strong no matter what. And I was going to learn everything I could about working out. The gains came extremely slow frustratingly slow. One day a guy came up to me and shared a story of struggle trying to get gains. Told me me about test decca and dbol he called it the breakfast of champions.

Since that cycle I have taken time to help numerous people. Educated myself by trial and error. I am not perfect. But I have never laughed at someone who is failed by making the attempt. But I have certainly helped people reach some goals.
I keep my cycles simple 2 oils 1 oral 3-5 months then back to low dose of test only. I don't run orals for 3-5 months to clarify 6-8 weeks max.

Now at 44 years old I won the 12 weeks fitness challenge.

I appreciate all these comments. I'd agree with what most people have said. I was fairly fit and lean most of my younger life but struggled to put on weight. I first tried AAS at 26 and felt like my eyes had been opened to a new way of living. I feel like I had a much healthier and optimistic outlook on life when i'm on, I have a motivation to stay fit that I could never replicate without AAS. Been on and off since then, now i'm 31 and run a basic dose of about 300mg/week. Need to consider if this is for the long haul. I honestly can't imagine things without it.
