Ok sorry if this looms like crap im doing this on my phone. I have been trying to do some research on steroids and the effects on kidneys. I got labs done in october and my doctor said my kidney function is very bad. I figured it was the tren/test run i was on and decided to end it. Went back in Jan and kidney functions actually improved greatly. They were functioning better than they were back in 2011. So i went ahead and jumped back on 500mg test a week. Got bloods done two days ago and now my kidneys are twice as bad as before as far as function and my cpk numbers are at 1800. Im not worried about the cpk as intramuscular injections and working out makes the number go up but i dont understand why my kidney function is so bad. I was doing 500 test 500 tren a week for my previous cycle. Kidneys went to almost 100% function when i was tested in Jan. Now it almost down to 30%. Maybe someone can chime in and help me out here. I thought i was fine till today now i just dont know what to think here.

What kidney function tests were run? Any protein in urine? Did they do a GFR also?

I also was taking aromasin. I did not get all of the numbers it was one of those 30 minute visits. I will go back and get all of the numbers tomorrow. It is through the VA. Im pretty sure there was a GFR in there somewhere. When i get all of the numbers and all of the things they did I will post them up.

Not yet. Getting anything done in the VA takes forever to get done. Took them a year and a half just to get the back surgery I needed from being seperated from the Army. He is trying to get it put in for the 14th since i have another back appointment since my pain is back. I can get all of my numbers though.

Sorry Baby. I have such bad ADD. for the last few days i get online to respond to you but i start clicking and it gets out of hand. I find myself reading about weird shit 2 hours later and forget why i'm online in the first place. Ok so i got just a basic test done. my BUN was at 20 and my creatinine was at 1.8. The cutoff for the creatinine was 1.3 for normal so i'm thinking that's not good. I went to ask them about the numbers and I spoke to a Doctor in another city over the phone. I'm supposed to pee in a jug for the entire day tomorrow and bring it back to them the day after. I'm guessing that is where they will determine exactly what is causing my problems. I truly hope this test doesn't look at my hormones because if they find out I take test without prescription I could lose my benifits. I'm not sure

Fuzo had to do that 24 hour urine tset for kidney function once. I dont believe ethat will show any of the test hormone levels. Also, creatinine can be elevated from dehydration and recent heavy exercise (which also can elevate your VPK level). There are other factors that can elevate craetinine besides kidney disease but it sounds like this is what the doc is looking for. So I assume you are doing a 24 hour creatinine clearance test and that will tell how the kidneys are functioning? Fuzo went through a lot of this 2 years ago so I learned a lot from that. Are you seeing a Nephrologist or Urologist for this? Also, what was your GFR test result? If I remember correctly, they want to see iot over 60. Best of luck to you and keep us posted please

Yes its a 24 hour clearance of my Creatine. I was also drinking a weight gainer with Creatine in it. Lifted very heavy the day before they drew my blood. Nobody told me not to so i gave them a piece of my mind for that one. And i live in a very small oil town in Wyoming about a hundred miles from Salt Lake, UT. I dont even see my doctor one on one. Its a TV screen i see him on and the nurses all are in person. I can drive to SL to see the Nephrologist they assigned to me but i've been doing it over the phone. First they are going to do this test. Ill pee all day Monday and give it to them Tuesday. I think this pee is going to measure my GFR.

Also what did Fuzo have to do afterwards when all was said and done? what were his results? Is he still able to cycle?

Even though his gfr was 48, craetinine high and protein in urine, the nephrologist said his kidneys were okay. What prompted him to get these tests done was he gained 22lbs of water in 2 days and continued to have edema in the legs, ankles, feet and pretty much everywhere. After a battery of tests for evrything, we really never got to many answers. After time all that edema subsided and yes he still did cycle. We actually were waiting to go to Mayo after he was approved. We had six weeks to wait and as we neared the appointment, he got better so we did not go

Sorry if I missed this but do you have a preexisting kidney issue?

Also just curious how much protein are you consuming daily?

Sorry it has been a while. No pre-existing. The testing went well i believe. They asked me to stop working out and taking supplements. Ignored that so i can see if it is that that is causing it. Kept up with my cycle of 500 test a week. All i did was add a gallon of water a day. My CPK dropped from 1800 to 250. Thats is good. My creatinine number dropped from 1.8 to 1.4. Looked at my previous GFR numbers and they were in the 50's. One of them was 47. I didnt get to look at it this time as i didnt have an appointment i just dropped by. Appointment is tomorrow. I had protien in my urine. The number was 50 and in normal ranges but i believe the creatine was a little high. just out of normal ranges though. I think it is water consumption that was ruining me by the looks of things. He will probably try for blood work in a month to make sure things are leveling out. Im excited because i was freaking out.
