      I went and worked with Sam Byrd again today. I got my squats to 375 and my deads to 405. It was a good day! I can't wait to get lean so I can start throwing calories down and really get my numbers up there.

      I haven't done BB bench press in a while. I have always been really weak in that area so it has always been a bit frustrating to do bench because of this. Well, I changed up my workout a bit and added in some BB bench. The first day, after warming up, I got 185 on there and did it for 3x3 pretty easy. I used the same 185 last night for 2 sets and then threw 195 on there and got it for a set of 3 pretty easy too. Next week I will probably use the 195 for all 3 work sets. I figure my max is probably around 225 or so. I know that don't seem like much weight to most, but that is a lot for me! I mean, the last time I was doing bench press, 175 was tough on me (pitiful I know). So I would say that my bench has increased around 50lbs.

      My goals for the year were :

      bench 250
      squat 450
      dead 450

      I set these goals large because I didn't think there was any way that I could make it. I'm really starting to question that now! I still have roughly 6 months to go and have already improved quite a bit. I have done all this while losing 14lbs and I am still working on getting to 10% BF or better.

      Man I had a strong chest day! I got up to 205 on bench and I got those 3 reps pretty easy.....so that led me to do some figuring. I know I could have done 205 another 3 reps. Going by a calculator I found, that would put me about 246 for a 1 rep max. I am fairly certain with a spotter there to make sure, I could do it 8 times and that would put me at about 260 for a 1 rep max. I am so pumped about this!!! My bench work has always been terribly weak. I mean, I had trouble getting 175 and now I have no issues throwing 205 on there for 3 sets of 3. This year has been the best year of lifting that runs all the way back to football workouts when I was in high school. It's AMAZING the progress you can make when you are working out the right way and adding in the right calories. I can't freaking wait until the end of this year. I really think I will blow my goals out of the water. I have almost reached my 2012 goals in 6 months. And I can only see that going up from here.

      What has me really excited is the fact that I am doing this while on a calorie deficit trying to get below 10% BF. I can only imagine the strength gains that will come once I can start throwing the calories down!

      I don't think it matters if you hit your rep goal as long as you are in your rep range and you go to failure. That's where magic happens!!

      Thanks!! I am pretty excited about lifting right now....addicted would be a better word. Usually I will do my work sets until I get the reps easy and then start over with heavier weights...working up until I get the reps and then move again. It's been working so far. The only thing I have been skipping lately is cardio because I have been building a fence.

      I have been looking at the SPF site at the records and what not and I am sitting pretty good at the moment going by the 165lb class. Now the goal is getting close to 165...haha! But I figure once I get to my body fat goal, I will be right there at 165.

      I felt pretty strong today. I had pretty good speed on my deads and went up 10lbs on my zerchers and they still felt strong. Those two lifts pretty much whooped me so the rest didn't feel as strong. I got the reps with the same weights, but I had to work through it. I bowed out on abs today. I'll catch them later. Good day though

      I felt like I killed it tonight!! Finally got my box squat form down so I can start adding the weight now. It was a good night. I am whooped. I need to mow and work on the fence....but.....I think that will have to wait until tomorrow

      My flat bench went up to 215 for my work sets!! That's by far more than I've ever tried alone. I am pretty excited about that. It wasn't really easy, but got done! I'll use the same weight for the next couple of sessions until it gets easy. I had a pretty strong workout today. I missed some reps but I went up on all weight last week so it was expected.

      With that being said, I have been so unmotivated the last week. It's been really bad for some reason. I'm not sure what's up. I don't know if I need a "reset" or what. I have had a lot going on personally so it may just be mental fatigue. All I know is that I have a bad case of the "I don't want tos" this week and it's really bothering me.

      So the last few weeks I have been having motivation problems. They stem from issues outside the gym and just mentally being in my own way....basically just life. So I had a chat with Ex yesterday and then (as strange as it sounds) had a sit down with myself last night. It basically boils down to me having to freaking MAN UP and get this done!!! I have got to stop worrying about outside issues when there is nothing I can do about it. I have got to stop concentrating on how much it sucks to be on a strict diet. And I've got to do this to get my mind right. I have been stressing myself out over things non gym related and it is really affecting my progress. It has also affected things in my personal life. It's time to get my head straight!!

      So today starts a "mentally" new me. No more worrying...life is what it is and I just need to roll with it and enjoy the opportunities that I have in front of me. Stop dwelling over things that I have no control over. So with that being said, it's time to get serious! PRs, big numbers, and body fat dropping...that's what you can expect to see for a while to come!

      Another strong day in the gym! This was a tough one. A sick at your stomach kinda workout. This guy came up and asked "Man, why you sweating so much, you been doing cardio?" I said "It's just a well designed workout! If it's 90* out and you aren't sweating in here....you aren't hitting it hard enough." I said it laughingly of course...but he said "I can't argue with that man."
