TweetI don't think this is true. Excessive red meat, maybe can be said to shorten one's life due to relatively high fat content and LDL. But a lot of that that depends on the particular cut of beef. However, if red meat contains high levels of not just protien, but readily available iron. Other food sources of iron are not absorbed well by the human body unless combined with an acid. The HCl (Hydrochloric acid) in our stomachs isn't enough to digest the iron found in plants. So if you cut red meat out of your diet, make sure you pay close attention to getting adequate iron - not the easiest thing to do - and eat an orange or grapefruit or some citrus fruit with whatever plant-based iron source you're eating. Otherwise, you won't be getting enough Fe (iton) from your food. Seems kinda like a huge pain in the ass to me. Other minerals and nutrients will be disappearing too, if red meat is removed and care isn't taken to replace them. Zinc; magnesium; vitamin B12 to name a few.
These are available in other meats and food sources, but not all of them are available in any other SINGLE food source. So, if you remove red meat from your diet because you think you're improving your health, be aware of the health RISK you're inducing, and take steps to replace the nutrients you'll be missing out on.
Or, don't suffer: who doesn't like a nice, juicy, medium-rare sirloin? Or london broil? These cuts are low in fat and are delicious. T-bone is another: one side is the sirloin; the other is filet mignon. There's always 97% lean ground beef. Just don't have it every single day. "All things in moderation". Who wants to eat the same thing for dinner every night anyway?

Tweetnortheastconfederate, I agree with most of what you said but LDL consumption such as eggs has been debunked as unhealthy. The real demon is not saturated fat from meats but processed fats and carbs. Eat whole veggies and meats that have not been processed with chemicals and colors and stuff (Think hot dogs, frozen dinners ect) and i feel it is at least close to par with fish. I would say that eating chicken is healthier than say trash fish like tilapia or eating huge amount of tuna and getting the mercury.
Like you said, there are several minerals you get from red meat you cannot get from fish. How about fish 3x a week, chicken 2x a week and red meat 2x a week.... everything in moderation.
Tweeti am a much bigger fan of red meat 1-2x daily myself haha
