TweetThe older I get the more I feel this way. I'm trying to be more open minded and working on accepting change. I think it can be difficult with a bodybuilder lifestyle and how life is structured around routine or "robot mode" as I say.
TweetDethklok started a thread that sparked up some good conversation. I like stuff that makes me think. as well as, getting to see what others perception of a phrase is. In my mind, there is no right or wrong to things like this. So I will ask what comes to your mind when you hear someone say
"I am set in my ways"
I have my own thoughts on this.
Thanks Dethklok for making that thread on .."Less is more"

TweetI feel the same way. Seems like the older I get, the more I feel like I am "set in my ways". To me it means you've done certain things a certain way for so long, you tend to reject change. Even if that change would prove to be more efficient.
Tweetset in my ways is to reject change.. sometimes good sometimes not. if by trial and error you have found something that works for you personally then its good. if you refuse the trial and error phase and hide under the idea of being set in your ways then it may not benefit you so well at times.. suppose we all have our own ways about us..
Tweetbeing set in one's ways means stagnated growth as a person. I definitely like my routine and have to shake myself out of it for new experiences.
I think there comes a time in many people's lives where they just stop and say this is as far as I want to go. I saw it in my parents.
I call it the old lady hair scenario. You ever notice ladies when they get a certain age they stop changing their hair style. maybe about 50ish. Men too but if you are old enough to remember when ladies would go once a week to get their hair fixed at the beauty shop and at like my grand ma, once she got to a certain age that was the last hair style she ever had. remember the round, heavily hairsprayed old lady doo.
TweetI'm set in my ways but open to suggestions on being more efficient
TweetThis is common amongst us all. But this topic is one I would love to share some shit with you guys on. It took a major downturn in my life and I lost my mother to cancer. This event forced me to look at my life like I never have and I realized (i get chills thinking about it) that I have been the one holding myself back by not being fully open to the world around me. So last year I decided to do a complete 180 and began reinventing myself. In my 40s and reinventing myself sure sounds like mid life crises . And it most likely is. But its NOT a crises. Its a chance to start anew. Like the phoenix rising from its ashes.
In one year I have come to a point where even my wife doesnt quite know whoi I am!! I joined public speaking classes and go to improv class. Im writing a book and I do a podcast. And now I am doing opersoanl training and group training along with offering my time to mentor new guys at work (my main job) for no pay. Just want to make connections is all. Be the guy that everyone wants to come to for help. But at the same time I am also reaching out for help. Like the public speaking class, and I also speak with a Life Coach and I ask everyone I meet how I can help them.
I am litteraly reinventing myself! And one of the biggest influences I have is Dorian Yates. Who has made a huge splash and an awesome reinvention.
In order to reinvent yourself you have to do thing different. You have to step out of your comfort zone and you have to be open minded.
Its awesome

TweetI just know better what I like and what I don't as I get older. Whats good for me and whats not.
I care a little less what people think about me and a little more about what I think.
Call it set in my ways or whatever, ha.
TweetI can honestly say this is not a phrase I even use. For me this would embark all kind of feelings, fear, laziness, closed mindedness and a big stunt in my growth. I am always a work in progress. It takes some self motivation to be able to conquer such a feeling. I think we all have moments where it is hard to motivate ourselves but if you train your inner voice to be loud, strong and honest, you won't sit back and be set in your ways. On the other hand, if you are set in your ways and are happy with where and who you are, then who is anyone to tell you different? In the end to each his own. For me, my work will never be done.

TweetI know some people "set in their ways" they still think they are in high school and act like it.
TweetI can be a bit set in my ways for certain things in my life.
