For years i wore elbow sleeves. Then I had enough and took me almost a year to be done with those. I still have them just in case but 2 years so far and im training smart and lifting the heaviest I ever have. I have found myself equally dependent on the lifting belt and im giving it up. been a few weeks belt free and doing well so far. its unbelievably liberating to rid myself of crutches. Has anyone else gone through anything similar?

Never used sleeves or a belt.
Now that being said I may start using a belt on squat and deads over 600 and wrist wraps on bench over 405.
I feel there is a place in training for these items, but I see so much over use when they aren't even needed. I believe overuse creates a weakness in stability muscles and the overall lift.

I used to use a big thick powerlifting best for my whole workout. I wore it religiously. Until about 10 years ago, I threw it out and havent worn a belt since.

You said it. a crutch. I would rather lift lighter and not use it. sounds like you are tearing it up. good on you.

I used a belt and knee wraps back in the day's I was lifting really heavy. I really liked being able to go heavy, but now I'm 51 and I train lighter with a lot less injury, and actually see the results I'm looking for. I kinda' liked the feel of my belt, wraps and being all chalked up, ya look and feel like you're all business ! Once in awhile I'll use my gear if I feel I have to, but like I said I learned over the years what's working for me.

I’ve been training for two and a half decades. Wrist wraps are the only thing I’ve used religiously. Belt, elbow sleeves, knee wraps are intermittent

I try to only use my belt for the heaviest one or two sets of an exercise and the same goes for my straps or wrist wraps. Me elbow sleeves I will use on certain tricep exercises that I know will aggravate my bursitis. Typically close grip bench or overhead dB.
