TweetAnyone regularly use a fiber supplement like Metamucil? I picked up some of the other day just for the benefit to help keep me "regular" but whoa crap the bloating and gas almost makes me want to throw it in the garbage. Just curious for anyone else that may be using something similar, what's the best time you've found to take it? I've been trying it in the morning and it makes me bloated all day. Starting to be glad I got the small bottle lol.

TweetYeah I've read it helps with cholesterol as well as several other benefits too. I'm going to try and stick with it, but hopefully this gas and bloating subsides. Man it's crazy.
Tweetfor starters make sure it has zero sugar in it. if it contains sugar it takes away the effectiveness of what it does. also take it at night before bed, that should set you up for a nice extra healthy dump in the am and not have you all bloated while walking around. i personally like the great value brand one at walmart personally. it is completely sugar free and doesnt taste bad at all. something else you can do if you arent liking that particular product is get you some fiber one twigs breakfast ceral put some splenda on it and eat it dry. i have used that with broccoli pretty successfully in the past when my guts were healthy

TweetNot sure if Metamucil contains both soluble and insoluble fiber? One bulks and the other promotes passing that junk along and out! A good supp has both and if you use mostly soluble, I would up the water intake around . Fiber takes some getting used to when we start adding a fiber supp

TweetGI recommended Konsyl for symptoms of IBD. Straight psyllium and nothing else. I take it every night for many many years now.
TweetWithout fiber it takes a few minutes to take a dump. With fiber it takes about 10 seconds and Im cleaned out. Thats how I can tell when I aint gettin enough
TweetI'm taking the sugar free Metamucil. I believe it's all psyllium. I tried taking it at night verses in the morning, and it's much better. Cuts down on the bloating during the day. Also cuts my morning bathroom time in half lol. So far I'm liking dating at night. Definitely going to keep it up.
Tweethospital doesnt have konsyl and they give me the sugar free Metamucil instead. I am used to konsyl but if unavailable i would use this. Not many know this even tho it is marketed as a laxative it helps resolve diarrhea as well.
