Hands registered as deadly weapons
Just had some girl tell me her sisters MMA wannabe boyfriend had to register his hands with the police department as "deadly weapons". I told her that the guy is lying because there is NO SUCH THING AS REGISTERING YOUR HANDS AS DEADLY WEAPONS...geezo...

Re: Hands registered as deadly weapons
Google it yamaha. It is totally FALSE. This myth has been around for about 100 years. There are online places where you can pay to get a certificate, but it is just a scam.
It is a way for insecure dudes to intimidate people. "I would kick your ass, but I am not allowed to because my hands are registered with the pollice department" LOL

I always assumed it was true because you can be charged with assault with a deadly weapon if you have been trained, right?

Re: Hands registered as deadly weapons
I remember Jason Miller saying that he got into it with his sister and got arrested and charged with assault with a deadly weapon because of his training background

Re: Hands registered as deadly weapons
Ringside Boxing has found a way for suckers & guys with too much money to give them $34.95. (+S&H) for a certificate with their name on it saying their hands are deadly weapons......

Re: Hands registered as deadly weapons
HAHA! i hate when douchebags say that. a prosecutor can argue that you are trained in an assault case just like they can argue an individual was bigger and stronger
but no such thing as registering a body part as a deadly weapon except my man parts LOL

Some states can charge you with assault with a deadly weapon but it doesn't matter if you are trained or not. Trained people have the same right to defend themselves as people that aren't trained. For example, here is some information on California law from some attorneys website:
"hands, feet, and other body parts do not qualify as deadly weapons under California ADW law. However, if you use your body to inflict "great bodily injury" on another, you can still trigger an ADW charge. This is because California Penal Code 245(a)(1) penalizes those who assault another with deadly weapons, instruments other than firearms, and any means of force likely to produce great bodily injury.

so if one was to put a guy down and cave in an attacker's face with a knee it could be ADW?
i doubt many prosecutors would even try a case like that unless the victim neutralized the threat and continued to attack

I think it's geared more towards if you are the attacker and cave someones face in with your knee you might get an ADW charge.

Re: Hands registered as deadly weapons
Now being in MMA all of my life,I have also heard this rumor but can tell you that it is completely false. At least, there is no state ive been in where its true.As for getting into trouble if you get into a fight and someone gets seriously hurt, that is true.If you get into a fight with someone and you end up really hurting the guy and he pursues it.and they find out you are highly trained in any martial arts, you could get into serious trouble, possibly even jail time depending on what state law is.

now i HAVE actually heard of that. i read a local newpaper story about a bar fight and one of the guys was a pretty bad ass fighter....fuked that dude up!! the judge smacked the shyt out of him, far worse than just assult charges! hit him with everything he had at his disposal and told him that, with his training, he should have known better....
