I met him in Atlantic City ten years ago at the Taj. Me and the guys went to AC and we went to the steakhouse at the Taj. Smokin Joe and his wife were eating dinner right next to us. We said hey champ and engaged in some light conversation. A girl (from the hotel) was coming around asking if you wanted a photo of your party for $20. Joe said "take a picture of me and the guys" and went into his pocket for the $20. I was confused why he would want a photo of me and my friends? When the girl brought back the photo twenty minutes later in a cheap cardboard frame, she went to give it to him and he replied "no, that's for the guys". I thought it was a class act.
BTW, he was very hard to understand. I don't know if he had too much to drink or it was punch drunk?
