    Exclamation finally got another .38spcl

I've been wanting a durable, dependable, effective and compact bug. I have been kickin myself in the ass ever since I traded a Colt .38 special for a pos at a gun-show. Well, today was my lucky day. The snub-nose Gods shined upon me. I got a Taurus .38 Special for $200. Slightly used. Very well kept. The old fellow selling it needed some money. I do too, but I need a good back-up-gun, and that one could not be passed-up.
I'll post a pic in a few. I gotta get my girl & her mommy together to hang out & get some sun. Then back to my collection/inspection/condition/lubrication.

I carry the same weapon. Over the years, I've become quite accurate with my Taurus .38. I also have a Rossi .38 that I'm looking to get rid of LEGALLY. Classic Pistol in Southampton has a SW9 for $379 that I wish to purchase. They only wanted to give me $100 for the trade on the Rossi. Fu*k them!

I've only owned one Taurus, a .357 mag revolver. I have to say it was a damn good gun. Probably the highest quality lower priced handguns available. Good purchase hp.

I took it for a spin Sunday afternoon. I couldn't get over the groups I was hitting from about 30-40ft. The first 5 I let fly. I was very impressed with it's feel. Shoots great, and fits great. That rubber grip is nice.
After that 1st 5. I was making my way back to the truck to reload, and my friend said, "damn good shootin with a 2" barrell." I didn't think about it til he said it, but I put 'em tight, and where I wanted them to go. There was, at most, an inch between the rounds. I forgot to grab the damn targets. We started poppin the Kalash off, & my daughter got into her little Red Ryder BB gun for the 1st time, so I completely forgot to grab the targets. I really wanted that 1st one too. I never could group worth a shit with my tiny Kel-tec P32. Unless 15ft or closer. Same with the P3AT. I was worse with the KT .380. I think they both sport 2" barrels as well. So, I like the new .38. I want a light-weight now. It never ends.lol. It's just too sweet. And compact. Just a little lighter. no-snag hammer, like my friend's Smith & Wesson featherweight. That thing's sweet! But, I ain't tryin to spend $600-$700.
I really like the Taurus .38spl though. Glad I got it.

Hey horse, good to see ya bro. thats an awesome looki9ng gun. I dont know much about guns. I had a 357 magnum that a cop stole from my truck for no reason at all. Said the holster strap was under the seat and said that constituted a motive to conceal it even though the gun was in clear sight.. So they took it and I never got it back. No some cop is rocking my 357...lol

Man...That pisses me off with ya bro. He definitely scored a .357 that day. That bugs me so much, I try to forget about it. I remember you mentioning that a while back. That was bs indeed. Nothin worse than a thief.

good looking revolver. I just finished loading some #000 buckshot rounds for my .38. It will put 2 holes in someone instead of one lol.

That's the stock grip for this model Taurus .38Spl. Model 85.

One of the models does come with a Hogue. I like the Hogue grips, but after shooting this one. I prefer this smaller version rubber grip by Taurus. I get an excellent grip on the pistol, and it just feels & fits great. It's also a little smaller than the Hogue, making it easy to pocket, etc...
The Hogue grip looks to offer a full grip. (including pinky finger) so it's gotta be larger. My hands aren't on the smaller side, but this stock grip offers an excellent hold of the pistol without the added bulk of the Hogue.

I haven't shot a plethora of .38Spls, but this is the sweetest shooter by a long shot. Hell of a bargain too.
I would never imagined the accuracy I got from a 2" barrell.

Also, I was shooting +P Hydra Shoks. That was all I had to shoot. Even being +P(a bit hotter rnd than standard powder) this little .38 was still a very smooth shooter. The recoil wasn't even worth noting. I was impressed.
Allot depends on the shooter's grip. Which I'm always helping someone adjust their grip, it seems. I do hold a pistol as it should be held. Very firm, with lock form so that the recoil should transfer all the way to shoulder. I feel the rubber grip had allot to do with it's performance and smooth report.
The .38 snub-nose in the past have left me unsure, as they felt snappy, and even jumped around in my grip. That was an old, small wooden grip .38spl. So again, I give credit to the grip. Gotta have the rubber.

I had a Colt King Cobra and a Smith & Wesson .357. I think both are great guns, yet I do tend to prefer Smith too. However, in a revolver I would trust even a Taurus over a semi. There is no chance of jamming with a revolver. Thus, I don't think you would have a need to worry about the Colt, especially when considering that Colt makes a darn fine hand gun anyway. I assume you are talking revolvers here. Semis are more reliable these days but to be completely sure a revolver is safest imo. Yet I have never had a single jam in my H&K USP .45 or my Springfield XDM 9mm.

yes, Taurus won me over with that .38spl. It's a good one for sure. I'd like to have a .357, but the cylinder makes revolvers so bulky. It's not so bad for those that pocket-carry them, but my pockets are all occupied.
I could use my cash pocket though. Plenty of room there.
